Civil aviation in Serbia is one of two main categories of aviation, representing both commercial and civil aviation. The greatest number of countries in the world are members of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and they work together on establishing civil aviation standards and regulations through that agency - harmonize their regulations and procedures with the rest of the world and in that way prevent confusion and problems for the pilots flying from or to other countries.

Serbian Civil Aviation includes two main categories:

 - Scheduled air transport, including all passenger and cargo flights operating according to the flight schedule
- Private aviation, which includes all other flights, private or commercial

Although civil aviation is often equalled,  by the public, with scheduled air transport, the greatest number of flights in the world is performed by the private aviation.
In Serbia, at the moment, there is only one airline which performs scheduled passenger transport - Jat Airways, one charter and leasing company Aviogenex , one cargo company Kosmas Air as well as several smaller companies mainly dealing with air-taxi services (Air Pink, Princ Aviation).

Trends of founding new airlines has been increasing in the previous years what is confirmed both by Centavia and United International Aviation companies.
Progressive rise on the airlines market contributed to the need of providing better and more comfortable transport thus increasing the purchase value of the aircraft as well as need for reinsurance of the fleet operating on the Serbian market.

The entire aviation portfolio has been reinsured for a number of years through the local reinsurer Dunav Re and through foreign reinsurers from the London market.
